Tyrone Power Tribute - November 14-16, 2008
Love's Final Gift, Remembrance
Bryan Cooper, Marvin Paige, Andrew Crane, Chris D. and I worked on this for almost an entire year. But it was so worth it. Everyone who attended had a great time. Thanks to Vic Wintriss and Marion Bertin, we had a display of two of the Ernst Leyden panels that were in Tyrone's and Linda's house. They were magnificent.
I'm happy to say that they have now found a new home with Romina Power.
The films shown were "Nightmare Alley," "The Razor's Edge," "Love is News," and "The Mark of Zorro."
Also shown were three features from the new "Matinee Idol" collection, and box sets were raffled off every night.
Debbie Beno and her two beautiful twin daughters displayed Debbie's wonderful memorabilia along with mine.
Good thing they were there or all of my stuff would still be in boxes.
The Memorial Service - November 15, 2008
This was the 50th year of Tyrone Power's death, and Marvin Paige did a beautiful job organizing the memorial service. There's a service every year at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, but this year was a special one. Tyrone Power, Jr. was the host, and his sisters Romina and Taryn attended with members of their family. The Martin family, Tyrone Power's cousins, also attended, as well as actresses Terry Moore and Coleen Gray, and Tyrone's stand-in Mike Steckler.

The Tribute ran from Friday evening through Sunday evening. Visitors were greeted by a 48" x 36" Hurrell photo of Tyrone Power and Loretta Young when they entered the theatre. In the lobby were two of the 9 foot stained glass murals that were in Tyrone's and Linda's home depicting their meeting and the birth of Romina, two memorabilia tables, and a clothing rack of costumes and personal clothing. Thanks to Marian Bertin, Vic Wintriss, Colin Watling, Debbie Beno, Robert Campbell, and American Cinematheque's own Andrew for making the displays possible. As to the guests - Marvin Paige was the man who brought them all together for our panel discussions, with Bryan Cooper doing wonderful interviews.
